FINIKIA AND OIA, HISTORY
Below you will find internet links where you can read more about Santorini, voted EUROPE’s BEST ISLAND by Conde Nast Traveller Magazine. You can also read about Finikia one of the most beautiful villages in Santorini. Finikia is a protected village. There are no cars, only donkeys (used to carry suitcases, garbage etc). And no tourist shops, only a couple of restaurants. It feels like you are in the Middle Ages – and at the same time it is only 10 minutes to walk to Oia, where you will find plenty of shops, restaurants – and tourists who gather to see the sunset…
There are at least four lovely restaurants in the village: one only 50 meters from the house (Lefkes), the second 100m away (Krinaki), a third one just at the entrance of the village, along the main road (Santorini Mou), and the last one is part of a hotel along the main road (Finikia’s place – Memories).
